Compared to large machinery carrying out the same task, the briquetting press appears little and powerless. However, it has turned to be a choice that can have several advantages in relation to savings and sustainability. The automatic briquetting press is a tool useful to optimise the space occupied by lathe shavings. The characteristic of these either leaded or leadless shards of brass is to be oil-impregnated, which is employed as a lubricant for turning.
Charged with oily substances, turning waste material represents a real cost linked with transport for the company and even a risk for the environment. In order to bring it to disposal sites, it is necessary to carry it on a trailer which dumps a certain amount on the road to its destination due to microvibrations.
In Eurmoda Group’s industrial plant, after their treatment, shavings are picked up and moved in the briquetting press’ tank. This machine compresses them through a screw until squeezing them as you can do with oranges. In this way, oil is removed and can be reused. On the contrary, shavings, which are lighter and less bulky after being pressed into a washer, are disposed of. “I have wanted this machine at all costs – claims Luca Cais, HSE manager. – I believe it is an efficient system in all respects which can enable us to send only few waste containers every month instead of dozens and dozens. We have extremely reduced our impact on the environment, because few transports are needed, resulting in a decrease in emissions. It is an immediate and long-term advantage.”
